TASTING EVENT - Volnay 1er cru - Wellington 15/3/21

VOLNAY 1er cru 2017 & 2018 TASTING

WINE SENTIENCE
Level 1, 104 Vivian Street, Wellington
Monday 6pm 15th March.

In association with Stephen Wong MW and Caitlin Perlman of Wine Sentience in Wellington we are pleased to offer our first sit-down wine appreciation and tasting event of 2021. Stephen has been running a series of in-depth tastings in Wellington under the heading "Burgundy Passport" - and the second Burgundy tasting of the year will concentrate on the beautiful village of VOLNAY in the Côte de Beaune.

All the wines are from the PMFW portfolio as we've always had a very strong set of Volnays - including one of the very top domaines - MARQUIS D'ANGERVILLE. Along with domaines Rousseau and Henri Gouges they were one of the first domaines to estate-bottle after the war and have become highly sought-after. Also in the line up are wines from our more recent agencies of Y. CLERGET, and HENRI BOILLOT - plus old favourite and great value BLAIN-GAGNARD. Benjamin Leroux will be well known to you as the former winemaker from down the hill in Pommard at Domaine Clos des Epeneaux - now making wine (and some brilliant Volnay) under his own name.

Volnay has historically been referred to as the Chambolle-Musigny of the Côte de Beaune - and you will be able to see over the course of the evening that the wines are elegant, graceful and perfumed - while marvelling at distinctions between the vineyards and producers. It should be an excellent tasting event.
Wine Sentience, headed by Stephen Wong MW, is a wine events and education space in Wellington developing wine experiences that connect wine lovers to the people & places behind the wines they’re drinking. Their philosophy centres around wine knowledge and a desire to broaden the conversation while helping you to see what really goes on behind the labels.
