Domaine Comte Armand in Pommard has been in the same ownership since before the French Revolution. Until 1994 the domaine owned only one vineyard - their famous Clos des Epeneaux, an outstanding premier cru, widely considered to perform at grand cru quality Monopole but have increased holdings to 7.5 hectares in Volnay & Auxey-Duresses.
The current Comte Armand is Vicomte Gabriel Armand, a Parisian who continues the tradition of employing resident manager/winemakers. Of these, wine-maker Jane Eyre has recently taken over the reins after following Paul Zanetti and Benjamin Leroux. Jane brings a perfumed & sensual style of winemaking which suits the Pommard area.
