Ribera del Duero is home to Spain's top wines, most notably Pingus and Vega Sicilia. While still a relatively young Denominacion de Origen (established in 1982) - the area has been famous ever since the Romans grew grapes here - and the vines grown at Valduero are more than 50 years old on average.
A great deal of investment and skill has been utilised to create a great domaine making wines with distinction and character from old, mostly Tempranillo vines. The emphasis here is on tradition - including organic methods and skilled winemaking from Yolanda Garcia Viadero for the last 30 years. Her sister Carolina heads the marketing and export department.
