Well it's that time of year again and the various wine-scribes have been busy with their reports and tasting notes - and yesterday Peter Maude was heard to comment "this is looking to be a very fine vintage".
Yes - 2025 Bordeaux does look to be very good indeed - lovely well-balanced wines from a vintage that was sunny and warm but unusually low yielding. The resulting wines have beautiful concentration - yet are not overly bold or overpowering.

2025 Vintage Summary

"After a generally mild and dry winter of 2024-2025, the growing season resumed in early April. A few cold spells in February helped to prevent the buds from bursting too early, thus lowering the risk of frost damage. Thanks to a fine spring, flowering began in late May and was quick and early, conducive to even ripening. Fruit set also took place under ideal conditions.
"2025 is an excellent vintage in Bordeaux - a paradox with deft balance, great concentration but modest alcohol despite a hot growing season. Quality runs from top to bottom and across the region - but yields are low. Berries were very small, and there were few bunches per vine. All this gives concentration but not quantity."

Price-wise we don't expect any shocks or prices that will be any higher than last year -
