Lovely cool and crisp aromas with charcoal, cola, blueberries and a hint of iris. Softly chewy but really juicy with a strawberry fruit core and chalky tannins that spread out across the mouth. This should round out nicely with such good acidity and purity of fruit. Really very easy to approach. Nothing out of balance. A great-value pick that really delivers a classic Bordeaux aspect.
93 Georgina Hindle, Decanter.
The 2025 Mauvesin Barton is packed with black fruits, mocha, gravel, chocolate and baking spices. This is a pretty extroverted vintage for the Mauvesin, a wine with notable textural depth and richness. There is some edginess in the tannins that needs to soften, but élevage should help with that. Tasted twice. 2030-2045.
89-91 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.
Vibrant plum colour, medium intensity, they really do seem to have got into the strideof things at Mauvesin Barton. There is plentiful fragrant floral character and a juicy signoff.
