2024, Domaine Pernot Belicard, PULIGNY-MONTRACHET, 1er Cru, 'Champs Gain'

$238

Highest part of Puligny. Close proximity to the forest. Late ripening. 1986 plantings. 30-35% max new oak.

The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet with orchard fruit and beeswax, just a patina of new wood (30%) to be subsumed. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and vibrant with hints of orange pith and apricot lending charm on the finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle to allow the aromatics to open up – fine potential here. 2028-2042
92+ Neal Martin, Vinous.

Mid to full lemon yellow. Some weight, not floral, maybe a little buttery note. Good acidity here, a useful complement to the butter. Not quite at ease yet but this should come together. Drink from 2029-2034.
