2024, Domaine Pernot Belicard, PULIGNY-MONTRACHET, 1er Cru, 'Champs Canet'
Planted in 2004 on gravel, limestone and clay soil.
The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet 1er Cru comes from another parcel of vines that suffers degeneration due to the SO49 rootstock. It has a little more penetration and intensity on the nose compared to the Champ Gain, heightened mineralité with touches of petrichor and wet limestone developing in the glass. The palate is taut and fresh with a menthol-tinged opening, fine weight, a little more exotic than the Champ Gain thanks to that discreet menthol note on the finish. Fine. 2028-2044
92 Neal Martin, Vinous.
A clear mid lemon colour. The bouquet is fresher than the Champ Gain, more floral, more energy. Middleweight, attractively layered, better length, a more complete wine. A very good fruit acid balance, and some reserve at the finish. Drink from 2030-2035.
