Genelières lies on the upper slopes of Couchey (but on the Marsannay "Côte") with its wines showing refreshing hillside minerality.

Great plant material reports Virgile, who opted for 70% whole bunch vinification. Mid ruby purple. The nose is a little denser but less lively than the Fixin. More depth and muscle on the palate, another very fine 2024 from Virgile. Gentle but adequate acidity. Drink from 2028-2034.

A discreet dollop of wood is present on the more floral and even cooler nose of the essence of red currant, pepper and a suggestion of humus. There is excellent verve to the delicious and sleekly textured flavours that also terminate in a mildly tangy finish that in this case is not drying. Here I have more confidence that this may well come together and my projected rating offers the benefit of the doubt.

The 2024 Marsannay Genelieres is another new fermage for the Domaine. This felt a little more reductive on the nose at the moment as this was just after racking. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity and cohesive with another elegant finish that deftly absorbs the 70% stems. Classy.
