2024, Domaine Lignier-Michelot, CÔTEAUX BOURGUIGNONS 824

$58

A new AOC (since 2011) covering the entire Burgundy region from the area around Auxerre down to Beaujolais. It replaces the earlier appellation Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire. The name Coteaux Bourguignons translates as "Burgundian hills".

All pinot, 50% whole bunch vinification. The bouquet alone suggests considerable density and this comes true on the palate as well. Dark raspberry, more austere finish, crunchy notes. Impressive. Tasted Nov 2025.
**** 87-89 Jasper Morris MW

Pretty red and blue pinot fruit aromas are nuanced by hints of earth. The rich and nicely voluminous flavours possess an unusually attractive mouthfeel in the context of the appellation while delivering better than average depth and persistence on the mildly rustic finale. Very good.
86-89 Burghound. Outstanding Top Value.

Drinking Window: 2027 - 2029
