From 50+ year old vines in Les Drazey and Gamaires (MSD side of Chambolle).

80% whole bunch vinification. Flamboyant purple in colour, with striking elegance to the nose, violets and raspberries. No more than medium bodied but with some menthol. Attractive, though, and one of the fresher wines. Drink from 2028-2034.

Here too a deft application of wood can be found on the ripe and overtly floral-suffused aromas of dark berries, spice and a hint of tea. There is very good volume and better density to the medium weight flavours as the old vine sap is in evidence while buffering the firm but fine tannins supporting the lingering finish. This is lovely and offers much to like.

The 2024 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes, which underwent no punch downs, has a light bouquet with loam and mulch infusing the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, lightly spiced with black pepper and bouquet garni. This opens nicely on the finish with the rondeur you want for a Chambolle Musigny. This will be difficult to resist in its youth.
