2024, Domaine Joannés Violot-Guillemard, POMMARD, 1er Cru, 'La Platière', Vins BIO

From a .7 ha parcel containing the domaine's oldest vines planted in 1936. Lovely open vineyard on the upper mid-slope.

Two samples were offered, the first from new wood. Bright and shiny ruby colour. More fruit than spicy, a certain strictness. Pepper at the back. The second from Clayver porcelain tanks had a paler crimson colour and much less nose, because less volatile. A gentler raspberry and strawberry fruit in the mouth, slightly gentler on the pepper. Longer finish. Neither has been racked at all. Drink from 2028-2033.
