Peter Maude Fine Wines
2024, Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron, NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES, 'Les Fleurières'
From a parcel that sits right below the Nuits 1er Les Pruliers.
Mid purple. Some density, with more evident structure on the nose. Blackcurrants as well as raspberry, a firm intensity. Drink from 2028-2031.

The 2024 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Fleurières, which lies just under Les Pruliers, has a bright nose with red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit. I appreciate the delineation and focus, vivid pure fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with veins of blue fruit and a touch of spice on the entry. A little Chambolle-like maybe, this is well balanced and feels fluid on the finish. This should be enjoyable in its flush of youth.

An earthier and more sauvage-inflected nose speaks of both red and dark wild currant and a hint of forest floor character. There is slightly better volume to the supple and round flavours that tighten up somewhat on the firm, dusty, rustic and sneaky long finale. In contrast to the prior wines that could be enjoyed basically shortly after release, this is going to need at least a few years of patience.
