2024, Domaine Blain-Gagnard, VOLNAY, 1er Cru, 'Pitures'

Pitures is high up on the slope with lots of stones on a limestone base - next to D'Angerville's Clos des Ducs. 

A slightly more deeply pitched nose is cool, pretty and airy with its mix of red and dark fruit elements. There is better volume to the moderately powerful and decidedly punchy flavours that exude evident minerality on the firmer, serious and brooding finale. Patience will be necessary though that is true of any competent Pitures. 2031+
