We tried this from both types of container to see what the differences might be. Tried from wood, the colour is crimson with a tiled edge. Immediately succulent alpine strawberry fruit, along with some pepper. More cherry in the mouth plus new oak. From Clayver, it is slightly brighter in colour, less fruit on the nose, more saline, more peppery. The blend is the most harmonious as the fruit returns but the oak is damped down Drink from 2029-2033. Tasted Oct 2025. 89-92 Jasper Morris
1.6 Hec holding. Pulled some vines out to replant 1.2 hec. Caroline advised comparable to 2016. Reductive nose. Charming on the palate, very floral, with chalky minerality. Tasted April 2025. Katharine Maude.
This is carrying that curious type of reduction the Burgundians refer to as bourgeon de cassis (cassis blossom), which normally does not last once the wine is racked. More interesting are the delicious and markedly vibrant middle weight flavors that possess better volume and mid-palate density while exhibiting fine length on the more youthfully austere and compact finale. Aux Réas almost always need at least mid-term keeping and this version will be no different. Tasted: Apr 10, 2026 Drink: 2031+ 89-91 Allen Meadows, Burghound
