50% Merlot, 50% Sangiovese

The Vintage.
The climate in 2023 was characterised by a relatively mild and dry winter.  Summer, on the other hand was hot, with peak temperatures in July and August, interrupted by frequent thunderstorms that mitigated water stress - which allowed for slow but gradual ripening of the grapes. The harvest began on September 1 with the Merlot - continuing on into the second week of the month with Sangiovese. Conditions during the harvest were ideal. Sunny days and cool nights allowed the grapes to maintain a beautiful aromatic freshness and excellent polyphenolic ripeness.

Winemaker notes on the 2023
Intense ruby red in colour, Luce 2023 opens on the nose with notes of ripe red fruits, spices, and cedar. On the palate, it is rich, unctuous and balanced in the mid-palate by a pleasant freshness.  On the finish, the tannins are perfectly integrated into the structure of the wine, enhancing its refinement and elegance.
