Peter Maude Fine Wines

2023, Maison Benjamin Leroux, CHAMBERTIN, Grand Cru, Magnum (1500ml)

$2,165

Fresh mid purple. A really refined exquisite nose, it is the balance that makes this really fine, with a taffeta texture, that makes Chambertin. Not the most intense that I have ever tasted but this is fine nonetheless, with immaculate length. Tasted Oct 2024. **** 94-97 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.

The 2023 Chambertin Grand Cru contains 80% whole bunch. Those stems are neatly integrated on the nose. It is quite complex, with mainly black fruit, sous-bois and light limestone scents. The palate is medium-bodied with austere tannins, the stems dominating the finish and rendering it a bit hard at the moment. 91-93 Neal Martin.
