A blend of Les Petit Gamets and Echards - below Champans.
The 2023 Volnay Village comes from two plots, the fruit destemmed with 10% new oak. This has a fragrant bouquet of finely delineated raspberry, bergamot and light rose petal scents. Raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit frame the medium-bodied palate, with a slightly chalky tannic structure and a fresh, quite detailed finish. Lovely.

This is also aromatically quite pretty with its slightly more deeply pitched array of plum, exotic tea and soft earth scents. There is better volume to the caressing and punchy middle weight flavours that also conclude in a bitter pit fruit, dusty and balanced finale. Fine quality for a Volnay villages. Outstanding Top Value.
89-91 Burghound.
All destemmed, 10% new wood. Another fresh lively purple, with additional refinement in the bouquet, less obviously juicy. Dark raspberry. Close to blackberry fruit, medium volume in the mouth, attractive finish, adequate acidity. Drink from 2028-2033.

A direct red fruit here – an elegance to this nose. Fine scale and energy – bright, nicely intense and playful in the finish – also keep it a couple of years.
