2023, Domaine Pernot Belicard, PULIGNY-MONTRACHET, 1er Cru, 'Les Pucelles' (Family Négoce)

1.5 Ha. Just moved from Négoce into a Domaine holding

Received in must from the family. From two plots, including some young vines, 8 year old next to Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and the larger plot with older vines below the pillars of Clos des Folatieres. A clean pale colour, with some tension on the nose, more than fruit concentration, though the palate speaks more of the latter and delivers a fairly classical Pucelles with its steely backbone. Good length here. Drink from 2028-2035.

This has my attention! That is beautifully proportioned – melting, mineral, classy flavoured – not full impact or concentration – the Perrièes is better in this respect but here is very classy terroir with still a super impressive length.

Pretty nose. Creamy almonds, very fruity – white flesh stone fruit. Delicate with lingering finish.
