2023, Domaine Pernot Belicard, PULIGNY-MONTRACHET, 1er Cru, 'Champs Canet'

Planted in 2004 on gravel, limestone and clay soil.

A nose of Puligny tension – mainly yellow citrus but a small support of minerality too. Extra breadth of mineral flavour – widescreen. A touch of finishing salinity – I love this – not overtly oaked vs some – that’s just ultra-delicious wine – bravo!

Pale lemon colour. Much more exuberant, lemon, and some passion fruit, medium length, plenty of charm. Immediate richness, one to approach young if one wants. Drink from 2027-2031.

Expressive and rich floral nose, verbena, white blossom, lilac. Rich, salty, mango (slightly), green melon with a bit of wood showing. Pleasant bitter finish. A touch of almonds, anise.
