2023, Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, VOSNE-ROMANÉE, Village, Magnum (1500ml)

A beautiful village-level Vosne from vines in Les Violettes, Aux Genaivrières and Aux Réas.
 

Pale ruby with violet rim. Delicately spicy nose. Bottled for only 2 weeks, so a bit shut down at this point. Smooth, soft cherries, raspberries. Soft leather, savoury, sous-bois.

A slightly more modest colour. Fuller in the mouth, much larger in scale. Hard to judge the flavours today as a large contribution comes from the barrel – but the wine’s concentration and architecture are excellent. I’d be waiting 3-5 years to drink this to let the oak fade into the background.
