2023, Domaine de la Vougeraie, CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY, Village

The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Village includes declassified fruit from Les Baudes and Les Gruenchers that represents around 20% of this blend (these bunches includes stems). The aromatics are a little muddled at the moment, missing some delineation and focus and in need of more brightness. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, quite energetic and missing the composure of the better cuvées from the Domaine. I will be cautious with my judgement based on this sample. 86-88 Neal Martin, Vinous (2024).

Includes fruit from 1ers Crus Gruenchers and Baudes, 20% whole bunch vinification. Lively whole bunch nose, floral, raspberries and roses, this is lifted and lively throughout, with a very even dark fruit which caresses the palate. Fine tannins, correct acidity and very persistent. Will make a lovely bottle, with relatively ripe fruit. **** 90-93 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (2024).
