2023, Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet, FIXIN

A glowing energetic purple, a little blackcurrant leaf reduction, but there is energy behind. Brisk fresh cherries wrapped in a little oak, these may be early days but the 2023 Fixin is very promising. The tannins are fine this year. Drink from 2026-2030.

Extra depth of darker fruit. Larger scale and with a clear extra concentration – faintly saline at the edges. Lots of finishing flavour energy too – that’s a simply excellent wine, which I think I’d still wait a year to open – of course you can keep it 20 more if you wish.

Pretty, dark ruby colour. Destemmed. No new oak. Bottled in November. Expressive floral nose with red cherries. Supple, light and elegant. Moreish minerality - raspberries and strawberries. Mineral finish with fine texture (tannin) evident in the end.
