2023, Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet, BOURGOGNE, 'Hautes Côtes de Nuits'

From Amélie’s mother’s side, planted by her grandfather. Vines above Vosne on the plateau – there’s 10 ha in this plot and currently, 4 ha are here in this domaine. 60-year-old vines.

Lovely slightly cushioned aroma – appealing. Incisive, quite intense – quite a mineral and almost strict wine – but very long – I like. Give it 2 years before attacking !!

Bottled in August, the 2023 Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge offers up pretty aromas of plums, berries and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, supple and saline palate. Lighter and more immediate than its 2022 predecessor, this delicate, fine-boned red will drink well young.

Deep med burgundy colour. Floral nose of violets, peonies, smoke. Juicy, cool, red fruits. Smoky spicy and fine. Fresh. 1/3 in 228L Barrel, 2/3 in foudres.
