Mid purple, just slightly reductive, so the wine comes across as a little bit meatier than the Côte de Nuits village wines already tasted. Sound, with some lifted cherry fruit now coming through, with quite a persistent finish, growing in elegance. Drink from 2030-2035.

This seems very different to other hot vintages with a ripe, elegant style that seemed lighter than the Volnay, for example, yet there is a very fine-grained tannic line that supports the wine all the way through to a rewarding finish. The ripe plum and mulberry aromas are gently accented with floral notes and spice. The grapes are from a domaine-owned parcel of 0.3ha near the border with Pommard.

Here too the expressive nose is super-fresh with its mix of various bright red berries and newly turned earth aromas. There is excellent intensity and detail to the delicious middle weight flavours that conclude in a dusty and balanced though less complex and mineral-driven finish. Even so, this is lovely and a wine that should be reasonably approachable after only 3 to 5 years if desired.
