The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Village seems to miss some fruit expression on the nose at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins, a little hollow on the mid-palate with a "bony" finish. Not the favourite of the Village Crus from Leroux this year. 84-86 Neal Martin, Vinous (2023).

The delicious, deeply-coloured village-level Vosne-Romanée from Benjamin Leroux is fragrant with perfumed sweet blackberry fruit and hints of violets and spice. The texture is lush and plump, with supple tannins and good length. The grapes are from lieux-dits across the appellation, including Violettes and Mazières Blanches in Flagey and Communes, Jacquines and Croix Blanche in Vosne proper. About 10% of the grapes are fermented directly in 450-litre barrels that are rolled instead of punched down. 94 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter (2023).

Full purple, and full of energy, this has flair and poise at the same time. One third whole bunches gives the Vosne-Romanée a sense of lift, and actually the waves of fruit keep coming, more than expected in a village wine. **** 90-93 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (2023).
