2021, Domaine Ponsot, CORTON, 'Cuvée du Bourdon', Grand Cru

$538

The 2021 Corton Cuvée du Bourdon is perfumed and floral, quite Vosne-like, with peony and persimmon tincturing the vibrant red berry fruit. Airy in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, sappy and just a little New World-like in style thanks to its joie-de-vivre and breeziness. Ponsot's populist cuvée! Less has made something more. 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous (2022).

Especially supple and sensual this year, the 2021 Corton Grand Cru Cuvée du Bourdon delivers notes of sweet raspberries and strawberries mingled with orange zest and coniferous forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, ample and textural, with a fleshy attack, melting tannins and succulent acids, it's a gourmand, charming wine that will offer a broad drinking window. 91-93 William Kelley, Wine Advocate (2023).

Mid purple colour. Quite a juicy fruit on the nose. Medium bodied, with a little bit more fruit building behind. Quite dark, some tannins. The cuvée is made up of two barrels each from Clos du Roi and younger vines in Bressandes. Slightly flat-footed finish. *** 88-90 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (2022).

Drinking Window: 2024 - 2038
