2020, La Clarté de Haut Brion Blanc, PESSAC-LÉOGNAN

$256

Second wine of Château Haut-Brion.

Bordeaux Blend: Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon.

I have almost run out of friends to recommend this wine to. Such a well judged dry white, with just the right amount of juicy acidity to keep things motoring through the palate, with waves of preserved lemons and white peach, sage and salted cracker. A great vintage for dry whites also, warm but not excessive, giving structure and impact. 30% new oak. Jean-Philippe Delmas estate director, Jean-Philippe Masclef technical director. 94, Jane Anson (Jan 2025).

The 2020 La Clarté de Haut-Brion is airy, bright and gracious, all of which make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Citrus peel, white flowers, mint, sage and green apple are all laced together in this breezy, charming white. 90-92 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.

The 2020 La Clarté de Haut-Brion is showing nicely in bottle, bursting with notions of grapefruit, nectarine, lemongrass and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a sweet core of fruit and a chalky finish, it will offer demonstrative drinking young. 92 William Kelley, Wine Advocate.

The 2020 La Clarté de Haut-Brion is a blend of 74.8% Sémillon and 25.2% Sauvignon Blanc, harvested from 19th to 28th August, with an estimated alcohol of 13.4%. It opens with intense notes of fresh pineapple, white peaches and lemon curd with suggestions of honeysuckle, paraffin wax and chalk dust. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers bags of juicy peaches and citrus flavors, accented by tropical fruit opulence and supported with refreshing acidity, finishing with a spicy kick. 90-92 Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate.

Drinking Window: 2023 - 2033
