Peter Maude Fine Wines
2017, Château Cantenac Brown, MARGAUX, 3ème Grand Cru Classé
3rd Growth, 1855.
Great definition with clear balance. The gentle coffee beans and smoked almond are delicious, and this is restrained but has the Margaux aromatic complexity that you want. A delicious wine but one for drinking sooner. Has some of the 2011 about it, which bodes well.
92 Jane Anson. Drinking Window 2024- 2040
With a larger proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon this year the 2017 Cantenac Brown leaps from the glass with exuberant notes of cassis, warm plums and black forest cake. The palate is medium-bodied and firm with fine-grained tannins and tons of freshness, finishing with plenty of black fruit and perfumed layers.
90-92 Wine Advocate.
