2022, Domaine d'Eugénie, VOSNE-ROMANÉE, 'Clos d'Eugénie'
The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Le Clos d'Eugénie includes 40% whole bunches this vintage. It has a backward nose, the fruit darker than on the Vosne Villages, crushed stone filtering through the dark red fruit. Very tight. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry, touches of oyster shell complementing the cranberry and raspberry fruit on the finish that will hopefully gain a tad more persistence. It will require 4-5 years in bottle. 89-91 Neal Martin, Vinous (2023).
Made with40% whole bunch vinification and 3 new barrels out of 9. A little deeper in colour and definitely offering greater precision on the nose compared to the village Vosne-Romanée. All in a pure and intense raspberry fruit, some strawberry at the finish, along with some pepper. Fresh crisp red fruit right at the finish. Very fine. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted Nov 2023. **** 91-93 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (2023).
