2024, Château Rieussec, SAUTERNES, 1er Grand Cru Classé
$158.70 inc. GST
83% Semillon, 17% Sauvignon Blanc.
The 2024 Rieussec has a clean, pure bouquet with dried honey, apricot and light saffron scents, with touches of quince developing in the glass. Fine delineation. The palate is well balanced with a tangy entry, very harmonious with impressive weight. This is a classy wine that will age well in the bottle. Drink 2027-2045.
92-94 Neal Martin, Vinous.
Pale gold in colour, curling gunsmoke and cool ash aromatics on the opening, then widens and deepens to show grilled pineapple, mango, white pear, nectarine pit, sage and saffron. Skilfully balanced, lovely juice and texture, clear ageing ability. Mathieu Crosnier new technical director.
95 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux.
Yellow-green hue in the glass. Restrained on the nose initially, the wine reveals an intense palate of bitter orange marmalade, juicy stone fruit, and vibrant acidity. Fresh and lively, with a fruity finish lifted by a pleasant bitter twist, delivering energy and length.
93 Georgina Hindle, Decanter.
