2024, Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron, ROMANÉE-SAINT-VIVANT, Grand Cru

$1,398

From vines planted in 1922

Half a crop could be made, amounting to 3.5 barrels. A glowing purple with a ruby edge. The Romanée St-Vivant shows plenty of fruit concentration with a slight reduction and a little oak. There is significant density on the palate, with a deep plum character behind the red berries. A mineral freshness behind, altogether this is hanging together nicely. Drink from 2034-2040.
**** 94-97 Jasper Morris MW.

This has a delectable, quite floral bouquet with subtle violet and peony scents interwoven into the black cherry and wild strawberry fruit. It feels quite harmonious. The palate is framed by succulent ripe tannins, perfectly judged acidity, vivid and animated with a long finish that fans out with glee. This is a great success, certainly as good as the previous vintage. Superb.
93-95 Neal Martin.

A spicy, cool, airy and beautifully layered nose freely offers up notes of both red and dark fruit, anise, exotic tea and pretty floral wisps. The super-sleek silky-textured middle weight flavours also possess a lovely sense of underlying tension that also suffuses the firm, lingering and more complex finale.
