2023, Domaine Joannès Violot-Guillemard, POMMARD, 1er Cru, 'La Platière', Vins BIO

From a .7 ha parcel containing the Domaine's oldest vines planted in 1936. Lovely open vineyard on the upper mid-slope.

Clear ruby. Cool black fruit. A little aniseed flower with a further floral mouth feel. Delicate and elegant on attack. Floral, herbal tea mouthfeel with fine texture. Very elegant expression.

A glowing crimson. A little has been aged in ceramic. 50% whole bunch vinification. A slight graphite touch to the nose, a bit more structure, attractively perfumed. The palate is a revelation: there is amazing intensity to this Pommard Platière, a stricter structure, much more going on, albeit with the tannins needing more time to resolve. Bright cherry finish. Drink from 2030-2036.
