Medium ruby with violet rim. Rose petals, violet nose. Cool black fruit, with subtle brambly notes. Smoky, spicy, meaty on the palate. A touch of peppery notes there too. Spicy on the long finish with a slight, but pleasant bitter lift.

The 2023 Beaune Clos des Mouches 1er Cru has an open, slightly leafy red-berry nose with hints of chestnut and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins; some whole bunch defines the second half with bell pepper and tobacco notes on the finish. Classic in style, this should be open for business early. 2026-2039.
