Bordeaux Blend: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2022 Vieux Maillet is a bold, savory Pomerol packed with super-ripe dark plum, leather, menthol and licorice. Expressive top notes from the Cabernets add notable aromatic presence. The heat of the vintage seems quite pronounced, but that could also be simply a reflection of the barrel sample. 89-91 Antonio Galloni, Vinous. 

This is good quality and highly charged, with a supple texture to tannins, confident with plenty of appellation signature, creamy damson fruits with roasted coffee bean and bitter chocolate. This is the first vintage under new owner, Frederic Stévenin, with Bruno Lacoste director and Anthony Appollot overseeing the vineyard. 92 Jane Anson, Decanter.
