2024, Maison Benjamin Leroux, MEURSAULT-BLAGNY, 1er Cru, 'La Pièce sous le Bois'

Leroux farms 1.7 hectares at the top of the slope.

Fresh lemon in colour. The bouquet shows the hillside to good effect. There is significant weight on the palate, some well ripened apples, retaining a sense of the limestone base, a well-constructed finish and very persistent. Drink from 2029-2034.

The 2024 Meursault-Blagny La Pièce Sous Le Bois 1er Cru has a taut, fresh, quite leesy bouquet that gains vigour in the glass. The palate is well balanced with tangy nectarine and clementine notes, fine weight with a focused, lightly spiced finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a classy Meursault though I feel it may not have the longevity of the Narvaux or Les Vireuils.
