Slightly fuller in colour than the Bâtard, indeed altogether more sensual. Perhaps less intrinsic power but more detail. Softer and riper perhaps this year, with a thicker texture, then an exquisite aftertaste. Optimum ripeness. Drink from 2030-2036.

The 2024 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has an expressive bouquet with yellow fruit mixed with egg whites, hints of praline in the background and the mineralité upholding a sense of terroir. The palate is very well balanced with a keen silver thread of acidity that keeps this on its toes. This shows more energy than the Bâtard-Montrachet this year and feels long and tender on the finish. Excellent.

A tiny struck match reduction – complex and inviting. Hmm, more mineral in style, more intense and direct – clearly the best of these. Very slowly fading and ultra delicious – what an excellent grand cru !!
