From the 1er portion of Monts Luisants; Alouette is a lark.
A whiff of herbal tea is present on the cool and pretty aromas of various red barriers, rose petal and attractive spice wisps. The middle weight flavours aren't as dense as those of the Bressandes but they're finer and more mineral-driven while delivering very good length on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. This too is worth checking out. Outstanding.

The 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Cuvée Allouettes offers darker fruit than the pair of Cortons tasted immediately before: finely delineated black plum, touches of tangerine and aniseed. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and gentle grip—but there is backbone here with a dash of black pepper that enlivens the finish. Very appealing.
92-94 Neal Martin, Vinous.
A bright mid purple, with altogether a much classier nose, with nothing to obfuscate. A mix of different berries, staying on the red side of the register, though slightly darker fruit appears on the palate. Still a very good acidity, but the fruit returns in volume behind. Kicks on impressively. This will need a little time but there is an excellent Cuvée des Alouettes in the making. Drink from 2031-2037.

Deep plum red colour. Zesty nose. Deep black plums with spice. Mouth-filling centre palate. A lot of freshness. Bon acidity. Very pleasing style.
