This elegant effort has the most floral-infused nose in the range with additional breadth in the form of red currant, raspberry and a very pretty range of spice elements, especially anise and sandalwood. I very much like the sophisticated texture of the medium-bodied flavours despite they're not being particularly dense, all wrapped in an overtly stony, balanced and built-to-age finish. Very promising.

The 2023 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very well-defined and more open bouquet compared to the Cuvée Allouettes. With cranberry and raspberry fruit alongside incense and light lavender scents, this is born to be seductive. The palate is medium-bodied and quite sapid with a little more crunchiness to the texture. There is a keen line of acidity and a vibrant, persistent finish. This ranks alongside the impressive 2022.

Some density of purple, has fallen very clear. An intriguing bouquet of alpine strawberries, delicacy without losing intensity, definitely more strawberry than raspberry on the nose. This continues on the palate with a good balance between the fruit and the structure, and a lively aftertaste.

Deep plum red colour. Spicy, floral, iris and lilacs, spicy nose. Subtle. Super cool, smooth dark fruit – still floral aspect here though. End of the palate the aromas still continue with the underlying minerality. Will age well.
