2023, Domaine de la Vougeraie, VOUGEOT, 1er Cru, 'Le Clos Blanc', Magnum (1500ml)

The 2023 Vougeot 1er Cru Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot has a lovely bouquet with apple blossom, wild honey and light Clementine scents that are very well defined. The palate is well balanced with good concentration, boasting lightly spiced white peaches and pears. It is quite poised and tensile on the finish. This is a level up from the previous vintage and comes recommended. 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous (2024).

An attractive lemon and lime colour. The bouquet is reserved, discreet yet fine, before opening out a little more to display correctly ripe orchard fruit. There is a superbly managed generosity of fruit on the palate, building in waves rather than volumes, with depth as much as breadth at the back.
