2022, Domaine Weinbach, La Colline du Château, Pinot Noir
The 2022 Pinot Noir La Colline du Château was harvested on the granite of Grand Cru Schlossberg. The ferment contained 60% of whole bunches and this spent 24 months in oak. There is just a touch of distant woodsmoke on the nose, gentle and smooth, almost with a touch of meatiness, but all very subtle. Superbly fine tannins define the slender, slightly juicy and beautifully dense palate, expressing dark fruit and making the mouth water. This is taut and expresses the granite beautifully, with fruit bubbling up between those lovely tannins. The 2022 has freshness and contour—it just needs a little bottle age. 92 Anne Krebiehl, Vinous (2025).
