2023, Domaine Bruno Clair, GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN, Village

Distinct notes of earth and game suffuse the brooding aromas of red berries, pretty floral and a whiff of humus character. There is solid mid-palate density to the supple and round yet serious flavours that culminate in a better-balanced, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. Fine quality for its level. 89-91 Burghound.
2023 is the last year of Belair before pulling out. Glowing ruby-crimson. Quite a fine sensitive alpine strawberry fruit on the nose, middleweight, nicely balanced finish. Accessible more than intense. Drink from 2028-2032. *** 89-91 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village will be the last vintage that includes fruit from Belair, as that was pulled up after the harvest. A touch of reduction is present on the nose here, although pleasant red fruit is coiled underneath. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and saline, with gentle grip, fine tannins and an elegant, open finish. Fine. 88-90 Neal Martin.
