2022, Maison Benjamin Leroux, CLOS DE VOUGEOT, Grand Cru, 'Petit Maupertuis'

The 2022 Clos Vougeot Les Petits Maupertui Grand Cru has a very attractive bouquet with pure wild strawberry and raspberry fruit and impressive mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, lovely symmetry and impressive persistence. Excellent. 93-95 Neal Martin, Vinous (2023).

Production is one 456 barrel, new wood but tamed by being used to ferment white wine first. Fresh mid purple, with a pure clean bouquet, plenty of energy not so much detail. Very good tension, pure red fruit, more raspberry than strawberry, with just a little tannic structure. This is looking impressive in its youth. **** 94-97 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (2023).
