2024, Domaine Pernot Belicard, MEURSAULT-PERRIERES, 1er Cru, 'Les Perrieres Dessous'

Just 80 metres from their Champs Canet ‘but the soil is very different.’ 

The 2024 Meursault Les Perrières Dessous 1er Cru, which comes from a 0.24-hectare parcel bordering the Puligny appellation, is well balanced and comes to life on the entry with citrus peel, spice box and white pepper notes, even a touch of fennel that underlies a seam of crushed stone. It gains intensity towards the finish as if compensating for the muted aromatics with a very persistent aftertaste. Again, you have to be patient but it will be worth waiting for. 2029-2045.

Mid lemon yellow. A beautiful bouquet, summer flowers mixed in with fairly concentrated orchard fruit. Everything is in place at the front of the palate, with a little oak bolstering the back. Clean golden fruit, a backbone of adequate acidity, with more fruit filling out the back of the palate. Drink from 2030-2036.
