2021, Domaine William Fevre, CHABLIS, Bougros 'Côte de Bougeros', Grand Cru

$205

The 2021 Chablis Bougros Côte Bouguerots Grand Cru, which was cropped at just 17hl/ha this year, has an intriguing bouquet with hints of peach skin and honeysuckle, the precocity of this parcel seeping through as it opens up. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, quite linear with hints of orange pith and even a dab of ginger towards the spicy, energetic finish. Excellent. 93-95 Neal Martin, Vinous.

TOP QUALITY PRODUCER. The Cote de Bouguerots is a 2.1ha part of the Bougros climat, with some distinctive characteristics. On very steep slopes (up to 30%) the clay/gravel soils are low-yielding and lead to intense, ageworthy wines. Much more mineral in terms of both perfume and texture on the palate, citrus fruit is more to the fore here with plenty of acidity suggesting the wine needs several years in bottle before opening. Great precision and laser-like focus. A very fine Grand Cru. 95 Andy Howard MW, Decanter.

Drinking Window: 2024 - 2043
