2023, Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron, ROMANÉE-SAINT-VIVANT, Grand Cru

$1,398

From vines planted in 1922

Racked and returned to barrel. A bright and vigorous purple. Good tension on the nose, the last signs of a previous reduction. Dark red berries. Adequate acidity, the tannins present and perhaps in need of longer elevage, which it will get. Drink from 2033-2040.

The 2023 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru has a perfumed bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit, iris flower and hints of dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with very pliant, fine tannins that frame the slightly toasty dark berry fruit. As usual, this leans more toward black than red fruit, with a touch of graphite toward the finish. This will need four or five years in bottle.
93-95 Neal Martin.

Amazing! Mid ruby with faint clear orange rim. Violets, vanilla, spice nose. Cool raspberries, strawberries. Very fine texture. Fine density. Super mineral.
