Peter Maude Fine Wines
2021, Domaine d'Eugénie, GRANDS-ECHEZEAUX, Grand Cru
This 0.50 hectare plot is located just above the south-eastern part of Clos-Vougeot, where the Grands-Echezeaux appellation begins. The clay-limestone soil is relatively deep in this plot with the majority of vines around 60 years old.
The 2021 Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru was made with 75% whole clusters this year. This is a tangible level up from the Echezeaux with vivacious dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit, much more in terms of concentration and delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-chiselled tannins that frame the pure, very saline fruit. Energetic and animated on the finish. This has serious potential. Superb. 95-97 Neal Martin, Vinous.
