From a newly planted (2021) parcel. Pinson is a finch.
A very pretty nose of various red berries and discreet earth and spice nuances gives way to attractively vibrant and textured, if not especially dense, flavours that terminate in a lightly austere finish. This is pretty but it needs better depth to arrive at the next level. Tasted Jan 2025.
86-88 Allen Meadows, Burghound.
The 2023 Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée de Pinson comes from a new parcel in the upper part of Mont Luisants in Morey-Saint-Denis, the vines planted in 2021. It has a light red cherry and crushed strawberry-scented bouquet. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry. The fruit is clean but very simple, as you would expect from such fledgling vines. Still, it will give easy-drinking pleasure over a couple of years.
84-86 Neal Martin, Vinous.
Made with the younger vines from Morey village, replanted in 2021. An even pretty purple. A light and slightly simple bouquet but pleasing in a fresh red cherry mode. Some class to the fruit. Drink from 2026-2027. Tasted Nov 2024.
