2023, Domaine Tollot-Beaut, ALOXE-CORTON, 1er Cru, 'Les Fournières'

The 2023 Aloxe-Corton Les Fournières 1er Cru has a totally different fruit profile to the Vercots, with more red fruit, more Pinot and more definition. The palate is ripe on the entry but there is tension here, with an attractive grainy texture and a precise, energetic finish. The 2023 is a quite delicious Aloxe-Corton in the making. 90-92 Neal Martin, Vinous.

A less deep colour and a more even fruit on the nose [than Vercots]. Much less muscled, altogether a lighter approach, a little bit of calamine right at the back. Slightly firm tannins to finish. *** 87-90 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.

More breadth and at the start a small hint of tobacco complexity in the aromas, the glass slowly filling with florals once more. In the mouth, direct and fluid - lovely energy - the wine almost sparkles. Just enough structure - so it's not strict but keeps you on your toes. Wow, finishing - what a volume and starting intensity here - slowly fading. No shirking violet here but it's a great wine. Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report.
