2023, Domaine Pierre-Morey, BOURGOGNE, Aligoté

The 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté, which had been bottled, offers lilting citrus peel and clementine scents on the nose that just need a little coaxing from the glass. The palate is well balanced with an underlying sapidity, slightly viscous in texture with veins of lemongrass towards the persistent finish. This is a fine upstanding Aligoté from Anne Morey. 88 Neal Martin, Vinous.

Pale lemon colour with a very pretty nose, correctly ripened Aligoté, coming from 7 plots all in Meursault. Very little wood component in 2023 because the barrels were all needed elsewhere. Fresh apple, a little bit of greengage, not massively concentrated but very pretty. *** 87 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (2024).

Breadth and intensity - almost a steely style to this. Scale, waves of agrume (citrus) flavours. Long finishing. A very tasty wine. Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report.
