From a 50/50 split of purchased fruit in En Charlemagne and Les Languettes

Here too there is a whiff of Granny Smith apple along with cool hints of lemon-lime and mineral reduction. There is better volume to the caressing but powerful broad-shouldered flavours that also exude a more prominent bead of minerality on the compact, youthfully austere and decidedly long finale. This is quite backward though I suspect that it will come around relatively quickly, at least in the context of what is typical for CC.

The 2023 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru had not completely finished its malolactic fermentation, with two barrels finished and two dragging their feet. With touches of beeswax and chai on the nose, this is nicely defined with good vigour. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, fine tension and a touch of reduction on the finish. Part of me doesn't mind whether this goes through malo or not, as I like the tension and spiciness on the finish!

One lot in the blend has not finished its malolactic, and they may leave as is since it appears stable. Clear bright colour. Surprisingly little nose, a bit of fresh apple perhaps. Some oak, plenty of citrus tension, harder to taste today but it should all be there. Drink from 2029-2034.

Pale greeny gold in appearance. Creamy nose with pear and almond. Very restrained and elegant, richness is developing. Pleasant bitter lemon notes on the end. Mineral. Intriguing tension.
